Vanishing Forests: Issues and Drivers of Deforestation in the Cross River Rainforest

This report is the outcome of an investigation into the drivers of deforestation in the largest remaining rainforest in Nigeria, located in Cross River state. It shows how the actions and policies of the state government, as well as the activities of non-state actors have combined to result in what may well be the fastest spate of forest loss ever recorded.

    Po odzyskaniu niepodległości Teatr kontynuował działalność oraz z powodzeniem rywalizował z awangardowym Teatrem Nowym i innymi poznańskimi scenami. Od 1925 r. stosowano skróconą nazwę – Teatr Polski w Poznaniu. Na potrzeby Powszechnej Wystawy Krajowej w 1928 r. gmach przebudowano. W okresie II wojny światowej Teatr pozostawał nieczynny. Gmach przetrwał bitwę o Poznań, a spektakle na nowo rozpoczęto już w IV 1945 r., kiedy to zagrano sztukę „Uciekła mi przepióreczka” Stefana Żeromskiego. W 1946 r. Teatr został upaństwowiony, również po 1989 r. pozostał teatrem publicznym. W 2004 r. Teatr Polski uzyskał tytuł najlepszego teatru repertuarowego w Polsce przyznany przez miesięcznik „Teatr”. Kilka dni później niemiecka policja na Śląsku opieczętowuje polskie biblioteki i drukarnie, a po 20 sierpnia w wielu miastach Polski mieszkańcy kopią rowy przeciwlotnicze, by cywile na ulicach mieli gdzie się chronić w razie nalotu. Wezwał do tego m.in. prezydent Warszawy Stefan Starzyński. Jak czytamy w relacjach z tego czasu, „do prac stanęli mężczyźni, kobiety i dzieci, ludzie wszystkich stanów i zawodów. Uderzała zwłaszcza olbrzymia ilość kandydatów spośród młodzieży. Wielu stanęło do pracy z własnymi kilofami i łopatami”. 30 sierpnia minister rolnictwa wydał rozporządzenie o zakazie podwyższania cen artykułów pierwszej potrzeby.
